Sisi in Tech Initiative: Equipping Young Women for the Future of Work

Artificial Intelligence is changing the way we work, learn, create and solve problems. As these changes accelerate, young people need more than access to technology. They need the exposure, practical skills and understanding to participate meaningfully in the opportunities emerging from it.

The Sisi in Tech Initiative was created by the Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation (AACCF) to give young women in tertiary institutions practical exposure to Artificial Intelligence, digital skills and the career opportunities within the evolving technology ecosystem.

The maiden edition, held on 28 and 29 July 2026 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, brought together female students from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), and Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences (OSPOHAS).

The two-day programme combined practical AI training with conversations around career pathways, freelancing, financial literacy and women’s health. Participants explored areas including AI fundamentals, prompt engineering, productivity tools, data and analytics, while learning how these tools can be applied across different fields of work.

A key component of the programme was the Capstone Challenge, where participants worked in teams to develop and present solutions to real-world problems using concepts from the training. The challenge encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, creativity and the practical application of new knowledge. Three teams were recognised for their outstanding projects.

Data Science Nigeria (DSN) served as the technical learning partner, delivering the core AI curriculum and practical learning sessions.

Uzemi Empowerment Initiative and Tech Talent Academy supported the delivery of the programme and contributed to creating a rich learning environment for participants.

Sisi in Tech is not simply about learning technology. It is about helping young women understand where they can fit into the future and giving them a starting point to pursue it.
