Sisi in Tech: Women in AI – Tech Talent Academy, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria
Posted on August 11th, 2026Sisi in Tech: Women in AI is a flagship initiative of the Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation (AACCF) designed to equip young women with practical skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital technologies, and career readiness while encouraging greater female participation in Nigeria’s digital economy.
The 2026 edition was held on 28–29 July 2026 at Tech Talent Academy, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, bringing together female students from Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), and Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences (OSPOHAS).
The programme was designed to accommodate 120 participants, with an allocation of 40 students from each participating institution. A total of 131 applications were received, reflecting strong interest in the initiative. Attendance records showed 89 participants on Day One and 84 participants on Day Two, with participants completing a two-day learning experience that combined technical instruction, career development, financial literacy, health education, mentorship, and project-based learning.
The curriculum was delivered through keynote presentations, expert-led technical sessions, interactive workshops, and a Capstone Project Challenge that enabled participants to apply AI concepts to real-world problems. The programme concluded with project presentations, the recognition of outstanding teams, and the presentation of certificates to participants who successfully completed the training.
PROJECT GOAL
To empower young women in public tertiary institutions with practical digital skills, career exposure, and access to learning opportunities that enhance employability and increase their participation in Nigeria’s digital economy.
OBJECTIVES
The Sisi in Tech: Women in AI initiative was designed to:
1. Equip 120 female students from three public tertiary institutions in Ogun State with foundational and in-demand digital skills in
Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies, supporting inclusive and quality education (SDG 4).
2. Increase young women’s participation in technology and innovation by providing practical learning experiences, mentorship, and
exposure to opportunities within the digital economy, contributing to gender equality (SDG 5).
3. Improve participants’ employability and career readiness through technical training, career guidance, and exposure to digital career
pathways, supporting decent work and economic growth (SDG 8).
4. Strengthen collaboration between the private sector, technology training institutions, and public tertiary institutions to expand access to
high-quality digital skills development through strategic partnerships (SDG 17).
PARTICIPANT PROFILE & ENGAGEMENT
The programme was designed for 120 participants, with an initial allocation of 40 participants from each of the three participating institutions. A total of 131 applications were received.
The final participant cohort comprised 91 women who took part in at least one day of the programme. Of these, 79 attended both days, while 12 attended one of the two programme days. Participants were drawn primarily from the three tertiary institutions, with a small number who were either recent graduates or not affiliated with a tertiary institution.
Engagement
The programme recorded participation across both days, with the majority of participants attending the full two-day experience. 79 of the 91 participants attended both days, representing the core cohort that completed the full learning experience.
Participation also extended beyond the three partner institutions, with one recent graduate and two participants without current institutional affiliation joining the programme.
Day-by-day attendance — captured separately from the unique-participant count above — stood at 89 on Day One and 84 on Day Two, reflecting daily turnout rather than the total number of distinct participants reached.

Conclusion
For AACCF, the programme provides a foundation for continued engagement through mentorship, advanced learning, career opportunities, and future technology initiatives.
